Yugdeepak Soni – Miniature Artist
Yugdeepak Soni is a Rajasthan-based artist. His works are rendered in the characteristic Pichwai style of folk art that is native to the region. Traditionally Pichwai works are made on cloth and hung from walls, commemorating or narrating stories through scenes based on myths, folklore and classic tales. Soni contemporises these themes through modern compositions, striking colours and a use of subjects depicting freedom, beauty and joy.
An Udaipur based miniaturist, his use of traditional materials and techniques, ranging from old base for paintings like old *BAHI* and other hand-made papers to cotton and muslin clothes, to the mineral, organic and metallic pigments and knowledge of different styles makes his art distinct and rich in its own course.
